Stella’s Secret Stash is a Non-Profit Organization that donates hats, bows, socks and other accessories to children in the NICU and Pediatric floors at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in the Northwest suburban Chicago area. Stella’s Secret Stash also donates to children with Special Needs who are not in hospitals.
Leslie and Rocco DeFrisco founded the organization in 2012 in honor of their infant daughter after she passed away. Stella DeFrisco was born on August 9, 2011, with Spina Bifida. She spent the first 6 months of her life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Stella was able to be home with her family for 5 months before passing away in the arms of her parents on July 15, 2012.
The DeFriscos’ goal is bring a little bit of ‘normal’ into the stressful, sterile hospital environment that families are immersed in when their children are hospitalized.
